Shaina Siber-Sanderowitz, LCSW

Shaina Siber-SanderowitzShaina Siber-Sanderowitz, LCSW is a clinical social worker who has spent her career addressing health care disparities and working with underserved populations in the Bronx, one of the large boroughs of New York City. She is currently the Director of Ambulatory and Emergency Psychiatry Services at Montefiore Hospital, one of the top medical centers in the metropolitan NY area. Included among its many medical specialties is its psychiatry department, with its longstanding commitment to a psychodynamic foundation for understanding the interface of medical and emotional problems, and the role played by family/society/culture. Ms. Siber-Sanderowitz is also trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, DBT, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, and she has a special interest in trauma focused work. Her interest in the adopted population is rooted in her experiences as a clinician and supervisor, with extensive clinical experience with adopted patients, birth parents, and adoptive parents.  Out of her own experience also as an adopted person, she has long recognized that the unique needs of adopted persons are often overlooked and misunderstood in both the medical and mental health fields.
